Home Chef FAQs
Hiring a home chef is easy! Once we receive your call or email, Shannon will follow up with you to learn more about your specific needs and discuss a pricing overview. She will answer your questions to demonstrate how important it is to hire a home chef as a solution to your challenges. We ask you to complete a Food Questionnaire so we can understand your food preferences and dietary needs. Next, we’ll discuss scheduling and match you with a talented chef! Your chef will offer a complimentary in-home or virtual consultation to meet you before your first cooking date and preview your kitchen.
Honest to Goodness cooks in your home. We are a personal, relationship-oriented service that is customized to your specific needs. You will feel better knowing exactly where and how your food is made as well as who is making your food. Your home chef plans and prepares fresh meals to store in your refrigerator. We use your dishes and storage containers, and leave a menu card with easy reheating instructions. Rest assured, your kitchen will be clean when your chef is done. An extra perk of us cooking in your home is the delicious smells lingering on your cooking day!
We recommend having your chef cook once per week for your family. Your meals are freshly-prepared and will hold up in your refrigerator through the upcoming week. Your chef will be in your kitchen for 3-5 hours at a time to make 3-5 complete dinners with lunch leftovers. If you would like your home chef to make breakfasts, snacks, or baked goods, just ask!
No contract is required for weekly cooking services. For large events or other situations with specific logistical needs, we do require a contract and retainer toward our services.
Ours is a working relationship that develops over time and improves with consistent feedback. Clients enjoy the greatest peace of mind when we work together on a weekly basis. We do request new weekly clients to commit for at least one month of services and a 4-hour per week service minimum.
If you are concerned about your budget, you may hire a chef for every other week or on an on-call basis. If you decide that you would like another service provider for whatever reason or none at all, we respect your decision and hope you’ll come back to us!
With people working from home more these days, we are glad to see your smiling faces in-person! We will also maintain appropriate physical distance to keep you safe.
You are not required to be home when your chef is there. If you are not home, please provide a key, code, or alarm instructions so that you may work elsewhere or continue other activities without any inconvenience. Your home chef will make sure to lock up when done with cooking to keep your home secure.
